Introducing Pulse

“Pulse” was derived from 2 Timothy 1:7. In Paul’s letter to his protégé Timothy, we see in verse 6, Paul encouraging Timothy to fan into flame the gift of God that was burning within Timothy. This gift, of course, is the Holy Spirit. We are always encouraging each other and our Youth to stoke that Spiritual fire that is within us. God wants to burn brightly within us, so that our sinful desires will burn away, and our eternal identity, our life hidden in Christ, will glow to this dark and lost world. In verse 7, Paul goes on to say “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of POWER, of LOVE and of SELF-DISCIPLINE.”

God’s love and power will do great things in and through us if we seek him and are disciplined to resist the enemy. Sin is always the obstacle to God’s Plans to spiritually prosper us. Thus the acronym “PLS” was formed. This led to a nickname “Pulse” which also has to do with our heart beat. We check whether we are physically  alive or dead by checking our pulse.  In the same way, we also need to check our spiritual pulse, to see if we are living the spiritual life.

The question we need to ask ourselves, is, am I living the Spiritual Life that I am called to live. Is my heart beating for God’s purpose, or am I still conforming to the patterns of this world?
